Sheehy Ford of Warrenton Gives Back This Thanksgiving

Sheehy Ford of Warrenton Helps Feed the Community

Every year Sheehy Ford of Warrenton provides turkey dinners to the many people in need in the Fauquier community and this year is no different! This year they are handing out 125 turkey dinners and working with Fauquier FISH to hand out these dinners. Fauquier FISH works with the local schools to identify families that need these dinners and give them a voucher for the dinners. When people go to Sheehy Ford of Warrenton to pick up their turkey dinners, they hand over their voucher and walk away with a fantastic turkey dinner.

“It’s very humbling. We really enjoy doing this every year. It makes a difference” said Amanda Madison, Inventory Manager at Sheehy Ford of Warrenton.

Fauquier County Food Facts

Every year hundreds of thousands of Americans struggle to make ends meet and provide food for themselves and their families. Food insecurity is especially hard for people experiencing it during the holiday season as so many holidays revolve around having meals with family. In Fauquier County about 5.5% of the county’s population was served by the local Fauquier Community Food Bank and Thrift Store (2015 stat). This equates to about 3,600 individuals a month coming out in need of support to help feed themselves and their families. During the COVID-19 pandemic food insecurity rates skyrocketed to unprecedented levels across the country, which made it almost impossible for local food banks to keep food on the shelves. Most food banks simply couldn’t help everyone who came to them in need of food. Even with help from local businesses like Sheehy Ford of Warrenton food banks struggled to keep up with the increased demand for food.

Sheehy Fall Food Drive

As we start to head towards a more “normal” return to society we often forget that there are still plenty of people in need of some extra help in our communities. Sheehy Ford of Warrenton is making sure that nobody in the Warrenton, Virginia area gets left behind this Thanksgiving season. Not only is Sheehy Ford of Warrenton donating 125 turkey dinners to families in need this Thanksgiving, they’ve also been collecting canned goods and other packaged, non-perishable food during the annual Sheehy Fall Food Drive. All donations made to Sheehy Ford of Warrenton during the Fall Food Drive will be donated to the Fauquier FISH client choice food pantry. The Fauquier FISH food pantry is referred to as “client choice” because all clients who come to the food pantry are allowed to make their own food selections from the Fauquier FISH food pantry menu.

Sheehy Ford of Warrenton’s continued passion to do whatever they can to help the people of Fauquier County, Virginia is truly inspiring. While many of us are focused on family, friends, food and gifts during the holidays, Sheehy Ford of Warrenton is going above and beyond to give back to their community and help those in need.
